The State Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation is
offering a new Living-at-Home waiver program for persons with mental
retardation. The program will give qualified individuals access to an
array of support services while living at home. The new waiver
services include: Personal Care; Respite Care; In-Home Residential
Habilitation; Day Habilitation; Pre-vocational Services; Supported
Employment; Skilled Nursing Care; Physical Therapy; Community
Specialist Support; and Crisis Intervention Services. The program
offers up to $18,000.00 per individual per year toward these
services. Ms. Eranell McIntosh-Wilson, Associate Commissioner of
Mental Retardation, stated "Our new Living-at-Home waiver program
will enable individuals to live more independent lives in the
familiar environment of their homes. We have the capacity to serve
as many as 500 individuals with mental retardation through this
program during the next three years."
