NAMI, the nation’s voice on mental illness, encourages the public to view the Discovery Channel’s remarkable documentary on schizophrenia, "Schizophrenia: Stolen Minds, Stolen Lives," scheduled to air on March 8, 2001 at 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight (EST). (Viewers are advised to check local listings for confirmation.) The documentary features personal stories of families touched by mental illness, including Nobel Prize winning mathematician John F. Nash, Jr., and his son, Johnny. It also presents the latest research on schizophrenia by many top scientists, including long-time NAMI member Nancy Andreasen, M.D., Ph.D. NAMI describes the documentary as "a powerful educational tool that will dispel the many myths that surround schizophrenia . . . and will give hope to the millions of Americans personally affected by the condition."

Video copies can be purchased after March 8th through the Discovery Channel by calling 1-800-475-6636 or by ordering on-line at Discovery.com. The purchase price is $19.95 plus shipping.
