VOICE AND VISION 2001

September 15 through October 21, 2001

Annual Alzheimer’s Conference will offer New Information, New Hope

Montgomery, AL—The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts has partnered with the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation to host an exhibition of artworks created by Alabamians with disabilities. Voice and Vision 2001, a juried art show, will be on view from Saturday, September 15 through Sunday, October 21, 2001.

"The Museum is always looking for new artists and for unique and innovative modes of expression to present to the public," said Museum Director Mark Johnson. "We are delighted once again to partner with our friends at the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and we look forward to the opening of this exhibition."

"We are excited about this second exhibition at the MMFA that will feature art made by Alabamians with disabilities," said DMH/MR Commissioner Kathy Sawyer. "We extend our gratitude to VSA Alabama, the Alabama Council of Developmental Disabilities, the Friends of Tarwater, NAMI Montgomery and various other groups and individuals for their contributions that helped make this exhibition possible."

Judging for Voice and Vision will take place on Sunday, September 23, 2001. The opening reception is from 2 to 4 PM and will feature a special presentation by the MARC Martial Arts Group from Mobile, and the Smith Singers, a talented singing group from Prattville, will perform.
